Jeff Pekarek
Jeff Pekarek began playing guitar as age ten. By age twelve he was
familiar enough with the piano to begin learning the art of arranging
music from his grandfather, a USN bandleader. He discovered the
double bass at fourteen and studied with Federico Silva and Bertram
Turetzky. Jeff became a contracted member of the San Diego Symphony
at seventeen, performing with the orchestra from 1975-79. In 1981, he
became an independent bandleader, specializing in period music
ensembles. He has recorded extensively with various bands, including
Keltik Kharma, Kick Up The Dust, and the Peter Pupping Quartet (as
Jeff Basile), and been featured on many albums, with artists such as
Richard Greene, Jimmy Ruelas, The Brothers Barton, and David Nigel
Lloyd. He is also the principal arranger for Yale Strom, and worked
as an arranger for Canum Entertainment from 2004 through 2008,
producing over 1,000 single demo recordings for the company. He was
the bassist for the theatrical documentary 'Primal Twang', backing up
Dan Crary, Eric Johnson, Albert Lee, and Mason Williams, released in
2009. Today, Jeff continues to work as an arranger, guitarist,
bassist, and audio editor.
